The 2020 report card on safer chemicals in consumer products was released by the Mind the Store campaign and the Campaign for Healthier Solutions looking at how 50 companies – including dollar store chains – rank when it comes to chemical safety in products and packaging. ’99 Cents Only Stores,’ a $2.7 billion company with nearly 400 stores in California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas, received an ‘F’ – the lowest grade possible – for the third year in a row and continues to knowingly sell products with toxic chemicals. Dollar Tree/Family Dollar, which has over 15,000 stores in 48 states with sales exceeding $25 billion annually and 193,000 associates, was one of the most improved companies, receiving a C+, up from a D+ in the last report.
